History
- 1956 – Bror-Eric ”Brickan” Berntson entered into the alcoholic beverage sector as a salesman with Lennart Naucktoff. Brickan, similar to his father, had previously worked in the hotel industry.
- 1959 – Brickan was employed by MARTINI & ROSSI in Sweden, for whom he later became the main distributor.
- 1965 - Birger Helleberg AB a wine and spirits agent founded in 1889, was acquired. A few years later the name was changed to Bror-Eric Berntson AB.
- 1980 - Brickans son Johan Berntson, started with the company, he was follow by his younger brother Eric, a few years later.
- 1990 - The company expands and 2 subsidiaries were formed, Berntson Wines and Snälleröds Distillery.
- 1996 - The various divisions of the company are restructured after a joint venture with the Berntson Family, Barcardi-Martini Group and William Grants and Sons. Berntson Wines was renamed Bibendum AB and was privately run until 2003 when it was purchased by SBG Group, which soon after was taken over by Altia of Finland.
- 2008 – Berntson AB, changes its name to Berntson Brands, becoming independently run as Barcardi Martini chooses to create a Nordic subsidiary. Simultaneously former agents such as William Grants & Sons choose to continue their decade long association with Berntson.
- 2009 – Berntson Brands AB create a new long term plan to promote itself as an independent family run trademark company within the Swedish alcohol market.
